1 MONTH OLD!!!

Our big boy is growing up way too fast!!!

It is so hard to believe that Baby M is one-month old today. It has truly been an amazing time. Kim and I can't believe that there ever was a time when we believed that our lives would have been okay without the blessing of a child.

The little dude has developed quite the personality! He smiles from time to time, more so in the last few days, and loves to chill and look around. We know that we are fortunate as he just doesn't fuss or cry very often. He has some new sounds that he has been trying out the last couple of days. In addition to his grunting, he has started making, what can be best described as, a kitty-cat sound. No real cooing yet.

Michael's favorite Mommy time is mid-afternoon, relaxing and watching Baby Story. This usually is after some tummy time and play time. Bath time is also one of his favorites!

As for Daddy time, there is nothing better than eating breakfast and watching Sportscenter every morning at 6:00...



We are venturing out a little more often, not too much as he hasn't had all of his shots yet. We usually head out to Target, Wal-Mart, Old Navy, etc... Baby M had his first BBQ last weekend. We all went over to Gary, Amy, and Baby Ellie's house for a "meet the baby" BBQ. Ellie is about a month older than Michael. Ellie and Michael must not have been as excited as their parents, as they slept through most of the festivities, waking up only to eat and go back to sleep. I know Mommy and I sure enjoyed getting out and Kim especially enjoyed finally having a couple glasses of wine.

Yesterday, Mommy and Baby M came up to West Port to visit. The ladies have been wanting to meet the little man and, of course, my volleyball girls have too!

We love and miss you all! Thank you for the many gifts and cards! As we continue to settle into our routine, we will begin to answer all of the cards and well-wishes.

2 Week Check-up!

Alright! Alright! I know I've been slackin on the blog...

Volleyball is in full swing. The girls are playing well, 3-2 right now. We had a huge win Tuesday over one of the top teams in district, Citrus and took another top team, Crystal River, to 5 games before dropping the sudden death game 15-17.

Baby M had his 2-week check-up on Wednesday. After dropping down to 7lbs 4oz after coming home, he is now 8lbs 8oz! He is in the 5oth percentile in every category and, like his daddy, is already quite the ladies' man...Everyone at the office loves him!

Kim also had her check-up and everything is looking great! She has already dropped 25 pounds and is feeling stronger with each passing day. She is feverishly working on ways to get me a second job (or one that actually pays!) so that she can stay home...She is such an incredible Mommy!!!


Kim's mom, Cindy, spent some time with us the first week or so and came up to help with the appointments this week. She really helped us get organized and took care of all of the little things so that we could concentrate on the little one!

We also had a great visit from MaMaw and PaPaw, along with Kaitlynn. As short as it was, it was so great to see them! Michael absolutely loved his cousin Kaitlynn!




Michael now recognizes us, rather than just staring and studying. He is still just as alert and observant, just chillin and looking around. He really only fusses when he's cold or gassy(don't we all)!!! He is smiling and kicking his legs when one of us comes over to talk to him. Also, he loves Chris Brown! He'll just be relaxing and Kim will put on Forever... He smiles and starts kicking his legs, he loves it! In all fairness...He also loves Totally 80's on VH1. Maybe he will be a terrific break dancer like his daddy and Uncle Bobby!



He enjoyed the trash talk with Uncle Chris as well as winning the bet after the Gators took care of the Canes last week! He is especially looking forward to seeing Bailey donn the Gator gear!

WOW!!!

While Kim and Baby M take a well-deserved nap, I thought that I would briefly update our friends and family.

Michael Dean Rasdall III was born on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 9:26 am. He weighed in at 8lbs 2oz and was 21 inches long.(Thank God he appears to have inherited Mommy's height!)

We went in on Tuesday to be induced and spent about 12 hours at the hospital before being sent back home. The medication pretty much did nothing for Kim. Mild(easy for me to say) contractions and no progress dilating. We scheduled a c-section for the next morning. Kim and I were excited and a little(okay, maybe a lot) nervous, but ready!

Everything went smoothly and as perfect as possible! As Dr. Marquette got his first look at Baby M, he said, "oh, no, he looks just like his dad!" (Poor kid!)

Everyone at Munroe Regional were incredible! The level of care by the nursing staff was amazing(especially taking into account the fact that there were 32 babies in the nursery!!!) Wednesday night there were 10 women in labor and there are only 8 beds.. We were treated like royalty. All of the staff constantly commented on how laid-back and content the little one was. He was very alert and just seemed to be taking everything in...

It is truly indescribable, the feeling of becoming a family! It has been a rush of emotions. We got home yesterday afternoon and just breathed a sigh of relief. Of course, it has taken Michael a little bit to adjust to his new surroundings. Last night was a long one! It was so much easier in the hospital... Despite the frustration and exhaustion we laughed often, knowing that everyone with a child has gone through it, as well.

Today has been great! Michael has really been alert and looking and taking everything in. He seems so much more comfortable and Kim and I are ecstatic, taking it all in, too.

and waiting...

So, thanks to Fay, we were bumped last Tuesday night from the hospital. All "elective and non-medically necessary" procedures were cancelled Tuesday, Wednesday, and today. We went in yesterday to meet with our doctor. The soonest that the hospital can get us in now is next Tuesday, the 26th... The good news is that we will be inducing on Tuesday rather than the original plan.
Unless the little one decides to come out on his own this weekend, he will be here on Tuesday. I guess that he is definitely a Virgo and just knew that it wasn't time!
The cool thing is that schools have been closed since Tuesday, so Kim and I have been able to hang out together.

Still waiting......

Well, the due date has come and gone...We are still anxiously awaiting lil Michael's arrival! The plan is to hopefully have him this weekend. (Like it's up to us) If he's not here by Tuesday, we will be going in that evening to begin Cervidil treatment. This is not "inducement" but it will hopefully prepare Kim a little more for delivery. The treatment sometimes results in the birth, however it may not. After 12 hours of treatment, if he's not here, we will re-evaluate and decide what to do. This may be returning home, inducing...who knows.
